The QS Sustainability Rankings 2023 was released on October 26 and the very first edition of this ranking focused on social and environmental sustainability performance in higher education institutions across the world.

The 2023 list of the world’s most sustainable institutes comprises 700 names which were selected based on their ability to tackle the world’s greatest environmental, social and governance (ESG) challenges.

The new sustainability rankings can help students select environmentally and socially conscious institutes to pursue their higher education in.

15 INDIAN INSTITUTES ON THE LIST

Fifteen Indian institutes and universities made it to the QS Sustainable Rankings 2023, led by IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).

Among the 15 featured institutes, there are seven IITs and IISc. Delhi University, Jadavpur University, Aligarh Muslim University and Banaras Hindu University also made it to the list.

However, none of the Indian institutes made it to the top 200. India’s top sustainable institute IIT Bombay is in the band of Ranks 281-300. (After the first 100 names, QS ranks institutes in batches)
